David Lawrence Bongard passed away this morning at his home at the age of 51. He was a former associate of ours at HERO, DMSI, TNDA and TDI. His work included coauthoring the Encyclopedia of Military Biography and If War Comes: How to Defeat Saddam Hussein. He was a collaborator (effectively co-author) of Future Wars: The World's Most Dangerous Flashpoints and was the associate managing editor of the six-volume International Military and Defense Encyclopedia. Dave was born 19 June 1959 in Summit, New Jersey. He graduated from Ohio University in 1980 with a BA in history and from the University of Maryland in 1985 with a MA in History. Dave came to work for HERO/DMSI in 1986 and worked with us at the The Dupuy Institute until 1997. His work is still being used by TDI with the creation of our new company-level actions database.
Dave made many friends over the years at HERO and TDI and impressed many people with his encyclopedic knowledge of military history. He was a close associate of Trevor Dupuy, helping with many of his writing and publication efforts over the years.
