The Dupuy Institute has openings for one or two military historians or analysts

Looking for military historians or analysts for what is essentially an entry level position. Must be comfortable with quantitative analysis and knowledgeable in military history. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject and one or more of the following:

- Background in statistics, econometrics or operations research
- Knowledge of German, Russian, Chinese or other languages
- Advanced degrees
- Prior military service
- Published works

The position(s) will be full-time. There is the possibility of international travel. Benefits include three weeks annual vacation, sick leave, and medical "cafeteria" plan, but there is no corporate health insurance program presently (although this may change in the near future).

This is a small company, so career growth is dependent on ability to help secure business. Long hours, low pay, demanding bosses: best job on the planet.

Chris,

I am interested in the position, but I do have one question.

I will assume that I will have to move to TDI's location and not be able to work from home. Am I correct?

Regards,

Craig

We currently have no new positions open. All of our positions have been filled.

We are still taking on unpaid interns, but no paying interns.

Hello,

I am a recent college graduate with a real interest in the analysis of historical and current military affairs at the strategic and operational level. The first time I read about your company was in, “And now, the war forecast,” featured in the September 17 edition of the The Economist. A few days later I came across a reference to, A Genius for War: The German Army and General Staff, 1807-1945, by Trevor N Dupuy, in Neil Fergusson’s Pity of War. I have recently visited your website and read some of The Dupuy Institute reports posted online. I have become very interested in the work that you do both modeling and analysis. How does one get on the track to do this kind of work? What kind of experience or education is required? I have a very good knowledge of military and political history but only a basic knowledge of statistics. In short, what steps does a recent college graduate need to take in order to get to the kind of strategic and analytical thinking and writing that the Dupuy Institute does? I do not mean to pester or bother, I know that you are busy. Thank you in advance for answers you have to offer.

Alexander
