In Colin D. Heaton's essay 'Red Army Assault at Seelow Heights' he mentions SS Major Rudolf Falkenhahn. I have tried to find out more about this person but he doesn't seem to exist. It's also said that Heaton is tha author of a biography over this man, but who is he? Is it a pseudonym or is he made up?http://www.theblitz.org/articles/historical_articles.php?id=54 Best regards/ Daniel

Unfortunately, the "essay" which Colin Heaton wrote is pure fanatasy. There is no Rudolf Falkenhahn and noone who fits the description given, so it is not even a pseudonym. One tip-off to the fantasy nature of the article, is Heaton's use of Manteuffel and Konev as actors giving orders for everything down to the tactical level. In fact, I have never seen any mention of Manteuffel's involvement in the dispositions for the Seelow battle. Finally, "Cold Wind to Valhalla", the alleged biography of Falkenhahn, must also be some sort of fantasy novel. I'd be wary of anything by Heaton if he thinks this constitutes history.[This message has been edited by Frederick L Clemens (edited 01-18-2003).]

I guess you are right. He got me alright, why didn't he note that it was fiction? The thing was that it first appeared on historynet.com right along Nipe and other great historians. Anyway, thanks for finally sorting it out for me.Best regards/ Daniel
