Can anybody tell me how many cavalry corps/divisions the Russians had at the end of World War II, that is in 1944/45? How long after the end of the war, were those units disbanded or motorised?

Thank you

Starinov,

I don't have my data with me, but I believe about half to two thirds were reorganized into Mechanized Divisions shortly after the war (1945) and the remainder either disbanded or also reoganized into Mech Divisions in early 1946. The half that weren't were transferred to the Caucasus region to deal with those republics.

I'll get back with you later.
