Well, I might as well strike while the iron is hot.

This time, I have a question about dispersion theory.

According to QJM and Attrition, a WW2 army has a typical dispersion of 2750 or 3000, depending on which book you use. For the sake of argument, lets just use 3000.

If I understand this correctly, with a dispersion of 3000, a WW2 force of 100,000 men is going to occupy a 50x50 km square (very roughly speaking).
In turn, this boils down to ~36 men per km^2.

Is this a correct interpretation ?

thanks,

Well, lets approach this a different way: In principle, a commander could pile a huge # of troops in a small area, but this would lead to ever decreasing dispersion values, which make the enemy power more effective. While this would be countered somewhat by the size factor, I am guessing the size factor benefit does not fully mitigate the increased enemy power.
