I can well see that Col. Dupuy's detailed analysis via QJM for WWII was 1943 and onwards -- by which time the Wehrmacht had modernized its Recon units to have Armored Infantry, Armored Cars, etc

However, reviewing the Recon Bn structures prior to that, as well as for Infantry formations even in the later war years, the Recon TO&E calls for Motorcycles or Bicycle units.

1) How would Motorcycles and Bicycles be handled in QJM?

2) Per QJM, what is the reason / advantage / value in having any Recon units at all (I clearly understand the actual real-world value of the role of these units)? I can't see how their role has any impact in QJM determinations.
